Health & Wellness
A healthy outlook requires good health
Health and Wellness are vital components of a thriving community. The 100's health and wellness goals are to raise awareness, provide access to healthcare, and offer health information that will ultimately promote behavior change, resulting in a healthier lifestyle. Our organization partners with corporations, foundations, and other nonprofit organizations to promote preventive health strategies and provide education on prevalent diseases that disproportionately affect African Americans.
Each year we conduct a Health and Wellness Expo whose objective is to raise the awareness levels concerning healthcare issues in the African American community, especially among men. To achieve such awareness, the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. partners with various organizations and health institutions to promote a range of health and wellness issues, including health screenings, drug and HIV/AIDS prevention, mental health, teen pregnancy prevention, Diabetes Awareness, and Prostate Cancer awareness.
Targeted health issues for the 100BMC also include physical exercise, nutrition, and childhood obesity, which are all significant factors in the overall health and wellness of families and communities. The organization has also focused its efforts to reduce youth violence through programs and partnerships that strengthen communities and promote restorative peace-making by supporting families and youth who have experienced loss due to violence.
